Day 1

Awaken to a carefully crafted vinyasa yoga class where we will weave story with movement. Then wander the endless countryside through ancient forests, along bubbling streams, and into the mystical glens. During your free time, schedule a massage, soak in the hot tub or lounge in one of the beautiful outdoor spaces before joining afternoon Yin Yoga to soften any lingering travel tightness.

After morning yoga, join the group for an outing to a crystal clear Loch. Walk the trails, swim in the refreshing waters and soak in the scenery.Afternoon Yoga Nidra will guide you into the liminal space where the mystic in you resides.After dinner this evening, we'll have lessons in traditional Scottish Dance.

After moring yoga and breakfast, we'll head to Edinburgh where we will tour the castle and wander the ancient streets that have inspired writers, artists and philosophers and for centuries.

We'll stick close to the estate today with plenty of time for yoga, journaling, resting or a delicious massage. Before dinner, we'll have the opportunity to learn about Scotch Whiskey as our sommelier guides us through a tasting and learning experience. Thank after our scrumptions meal, we will gather around the fire with Scottish musicians to enchant and seranade us.

A Day of Leisure

Day 5

Bracketed by the usual morning and afteroon yoga, we'll travel into Stirling. Once the capital of Scotland, Stirling features a medieval Castle and a monument to William Wallace. Learn the history as you wander through ancient rooms and hear stories of intrigue and resilience.

After one final morning gathering, we'll bid our farewell to our lovely home together and head off, perhaps back to home, or perhaps for a few nights enjoying the Edinburgh Festival which runs the entire month of August. <h3>Getting to Scotland</h3>For guests traveling from the United States, Edinburgh Airport (EDI) will be the primary arrival airport for the retreat. Several U.S. cities offer nonstop seasonal service to Edinburgh, while many additional routes are available with connections through major European and UK hubs.U.S. citizens traveling to Scotland for tourism will need a&nbsp;valid passport as well as a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). The ETA is electronically linked to your passport and should be obtained before travel. A tourist visa is generally not required for U.S. citizens visiting the UK for stays of up to six months. Current requirements should always be confirmed prior to departure, as entry regulations can change. Airport transportation will be coordinated for the group, with the journey from Edinburgh to Glenalmond taking approximately&nbsp;1½ hours.As we get closer to the retreat, I will collect everyone’s flight information and provide specific details regarding meeting locations and transfer times.If you prefer a more leisurely arrival, I highly recommend coming to Scotland a day or two early. This allows time to adjust to the time difference, explore Edinburgh, and begin the retreat feeling rested rather than rushed.<h3>Currency &amp; Spending in Scotland</h3>Scotland uses the&nbsp;British pound sterling (£ / GBP). Scottish banks issue their own pound notes, which are the same currency and value as Bank of England notes.Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, and contactless payment is common throughout Scotland. Having a small amount of cash can still be useful for incidental purchases, particularly when traveling in rural areas. Welcome to Aeigialis Resort, your home for the week and paradise on earth. Your ferry will likely bring you to the port mid-late afternoon. You'll be met there by a hotel respresentative who will facilitate your scenic drive to your destination. Gather with friends for a welcome circle and orientation, then enjoy a delicious meal in the dining room before heading to bed with the sound of waves lapping at the shore below.

After Morning Yoga in an open air shala, the day is yours! Take advantage of the spa, head to the beach, or lounge by the pool as you land more fully into the space.We'll meet again in the afternoon for gentle movement as the sun is setting before our group dinner.

Settle In and Relax

After morning yoga, set off for a hike between the villages of Tholaria and Lagada. We'll follow paths that have stood the test of time and are still used by most people who live here today. Pass through small vineyards, beneath olive trees, gather herbs or ripened figs along the way, and get to know more about the island from our expert guide. The hike will end in a family taverna for a traditional lunch before our return to the resort.You'll have plenty of time to rest before our gentle class in the early evening and our sumptiuous dinner.

Follow the Path of Ancient Villagers and Romans

Amorgos is full of stunningly beautiful sites. After morning yoga today, take advantage of the opportunity to tour the island. Visit the world renowned Monastery of Hozoviotissa, stop for a swim at Agia Anna Beach and wander the steets of the capital city, Chora, all with a guide to keep you informed along the way.We'll come together later to move, breath and settle before winding down our day with another delicious meal.

Island Tour

Despite the rugged appearance of the hills around you, Amorgos is home to incredible biodiversity, and hundreds of wild edible and medicinal plants grow here. After practice this morning, you will have the opportunity to meet on of the island's greatest treasures: Vangellis Vassalo. He will teach us about the process of distillation that leads to essential oils and medicines used here for hundreds of year sharing both traditional wisdom and modern science. Afterwards, you'll have the chance to purchase products for your own use. Settle in later for another relaxing eveing under the stars with good food and company.

Visit a Traditional Herbalist and Healer

Some places are almost too beautiful to describe in words. Venture to the far side today to explore the beach of Kalotaritissa in Amorgos, a fairly long seashore located on the southern side of the island. It is a sandy beach with azure waters and plenty of shade.&nbsp;The sea is sparkling and clear.&nbsp;Beach facilities include a canteen, sunbeds and wicked umbrellas.&nbsp;While in Kalotaritissa, one can catch a glimpse of numerous fishing boats. A&nbsp;water taxi takes visitors to the nearby island of Gramvousa, a serenely quiet beach without &nbsp;tourist amenities. It is advisable to carry one's own necessities at the beach so that the lack of facilities does not hamper the traveling spirit. As usual, our time exploring will be braketed by soothing yoga, stillness and scrumptions food!

This last day belongs entirely to you. After practice, reflect on your time, make a final visit to the spa, wander into town for souvenirs and plan your visit next year!We'll gather before dinner for a final circle to share our experience and prepare to return home.

<h3>US Citizens traveling to Greece need a current passport. Check the expiration date to make sure that it does not expire within 6 months of your trip. Visas are not required.</h3>Concerns about the European Economy have had very little effect on tourism in Greece, especially outside the capital. ATMs may limit the amount of money you may withdraw, so it is advisable to manage your cash accordingly. Most small businesses prefer cash transactions, but larger hotels and transport companies usually accept Master Card and Visa. Stay abreast of any travel advisories through the&nbsp;<a target='_blank' href="http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/country/greece.html" target="_blank">US State Department Website</a>. The remote location of Amorgos works like a natural filter keeping crowds small and the island unspoiled. From the United States, you will fly to Athens. You should plan to arrive at least one day before the start of the retreat. Option 1: Ferry from AthensFerries run between Athens and the ports of Katapola and Aegialis on either Seajets or Blue Star. The best and easiest ferry is the Blue Star (or Hellenic) Highspeed 4. We recommend an upgrade to the VIP section for the most comfortable travel and optimal viewing.
